Our Apex Legends Date Night Went Exactly How You’d Expect
There’s a special kind of chaos that only happens when you drop into Apex Legends as a couple. Half the comms are strategy, half are an argument that started three matches ago and never really ended, and somehow, against all odds, you still end up winning.
That’s exactly what happened when @PerahZA and @Improvisor_ZA (yes, that’s us) queued up together for a squad session that turned into one of the most “us” videos we’ve ever recorded.
It Started With a Gun (Or the Lack of One)
Before the first fight even kicked off, we were already deep in it:
“Why did you go into battle on your own?” “I told you I don’t have a gun.” “But you did pick up a gun.” “I gave the gun to you!”
Anyone who’s dropped hot with a partner knows this argument. Someone pushes without a weapon, someone else swears they handed one over, and suddenly the real enemy isn’t the other squad, it’s each other. Classic Apex Legends couple energy.
Spoiler: he went in solo, no gun, and paid for it. First death of the video, right there, self-inflicted by miscommunication (and maybe a little bit of main character syndrome).
Round One: A Rocky Start
The first game was rough. He went down early after that fateful gun mix-up. I scavenged, found a weapon, pushed back into the fight, managed to take an enemy down… and then died too. Not exactly the highlight reel we were hoping for, but hey, we got a kill and a laugh out of it, and honestly, that’s a solid trade in Apex.
Round Two: The Redemption Arc
This is where it got good.
New game, same chaos, but this time the story flipped:
- He goes down first.
- I clutch a revive under pressure, multiple squads around, shields popping, comms getting spicy (“combat’s too noisy… shush now!”).
- Then I go down.
- He returns the favor and picks me up.
- We push back into the fight together, shields cracking, “recharging my shields” becoming our unofficial catchphrase for the video.
- And somehow, we both walk away as the last squad standing.
Apex Champions.
There’s nothing quite like the switch from “I told you I don’t have a gun” to reviving each other under fire and closing out the match together. That’s the whole appeal of playing with your partner. It’s messy, it’s a little petty, and then suddenly you’re both screaming “GOAT!” at the top of your lungs because you actually pulled it off.
Why We Keep Filming These
Honestly, half the fun of these videos isn’t the gunplay, it’s the bickering, the in-game voice lines cutting through our real conversations, the “did you hear that” panic, and the fact that we somehow function as a squad despite arguing about gun logistics moments earlier. If you’ve ever gamed with your significant other, you know the vibe. If you haven’t, buckle up, because it’s a rollercoaster.
Enjoyed the Chaos? You Know What to Do.
